Norfolk Catholic hosts D-3 District Cross Country Meet; NC Boys finish second to qualify for State Championships
The Norfolk Catholic cross country squads hosted yesterday’s D-3 District Meet at Skyview Lake.
In the boys’ race, Ainsworth was the team champion after posting a score of 39. Norfolk Catholic was second at 44 and West Holt finished third with 51 points. All three teams qualified their entire squads for the State Championship next week at Kearney. Ainsworth’s Benjamin Arens was the medalist in a time of 16:04. He won by 1:15. The Knights’ Rylan Rasmussen was fifth, Elliot Eisenmenger got sixth, and Wyatt Ash finished 13th. Other Norfolk Catholic runners that will compete next week in the State Championship will be Dalton Brunsing, Ben Hammond, and Travis Kalous. In the girls’ competition, Ainsworth was the champion with a score of 18, Bloomfield was second at 30, and West Holt took third place with a score of 59. Ainsworth’s Rylee Rice was the medalist in a time of 19:58.48. She won by just over 44 seconds. Lutheran High Northeast’s Allison Stineman finished eighth and Norfolk Catholic’s Emily Faltys was 15th to qualify for the State Championship. The Lady Knights were fifth as a team.
