Police seek public’s help locating a wanted man

HARLINGEN — Police are looking to the public for assistance in identifying and locating a person of interest allegedly involved in an aggravated robbery.

The Harlingen Police Department has released video surveillance with an image of the man.

Police said the robbery took place on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at approximately 1:14 a.m. on the 2400 block of Loop 499.

According to police, the store clerk reported the unknown man entering the store covering his face with a green towel.

The clerk reported the man walked throughout the store grabbing several items and approached the front counter.

According to police, the man placed the items on the counter, asked for cigarettes and then demanded the store clerk to give him the money from the cash register.

Police said the man then removed a large kitchen knife from his pocket and pointed it at the clerk. The clerk backed away from the counter and the man then ran out of the store with the unpaid items.

The man was described as a Hispanic in his 40s, approximately 5 feet, 4 inches tall wearing a red bandana, a gray T-shirt with an American flag, khaki shorts, black sneakers and a black wrist watch.
