Jets romp in Thursday night NFL fray...Deshaun Watson done for the year...Elliot’s suspension
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Matt Forte ran for two touchdowns and quarterback Josh McCown ran for another while an overwhelming defense sacked Tyrod Taylor seven times in the New York Jets 34-21 demolition of the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo (5-3) came in having scored 64 points in its last two wins, but self-destructed with turnovers and miscues. Jordan Jenkins had two of the Jets’ sacks as they never allowed Buffalo’s offense to get on track.
HOUSTON (AP) — Two people familiar with the situation tell The Associated Press that Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson sustained a season-ending knee injury in practice on Thursday. The people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, say the rookie suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in one of his knees and will go on the injured reserve. Watson’s injury is a huge blow for a team which looked to have finally solved years of problems at quarterback with the emergence of the talented 22-year-old.
UNDATED (AP) — Lawyers for the NFL say Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has no chance of success with his latest attempt to delay a six-game suspension. The lawyers made the argument Thursday in papers submitted to the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The court is considering whether to weigh in on Elliott’s suspension for domestic violence allegations.
