Two Stabbed in Detroit-Area Post Office
HAMTRAMCK, Mich. (AP) _ A woman using a cane and carrying grocery bags walked into a post office Tuesday, stabbed another woman in the neck, then stabbed herself.
``She just stabbed the other lady who was in there taking care of her business,″ witness Ivy Thomas said.
Neither woman was a postal employee and the stabbing was not connected to the post office, postal inspector Fred Van de Putte said.
``This is a public building, and it just happened to happen in our lobby,″ he said.
The victim was in serious condition with a single wound to her neck; her attacker was in fair condition with wounds to her head and neck, Detroit Receiving Hospital spokesman Dennis Archambault said.
No motive was immediately apparent, police Lt. Mark Glazewski said.
Detroit rings the municipality of Hamtramck like a doughnut.
