Blood, Sweat and Tears will headline SC Pecan Festival
FLORENCE, S.C. – The 15th annual South Carolina Pecan Festival will be spinning its wheels this year.
Blood, Sweat and Tears, the group that sang the song “Spinning Wheels,” among other hits, will be the featured performers at the festival, Festival organizer George Jebaily said .
The festival will be held on Nov. 3 in downtown Florence.
The group, whose self-titled album received four-times platinum certification, currently features Tom Bowes on vocals, Glenn McClelland on the keyboard, Brad Mason on the trumpet, Ken Gioffre on the saxophone and flute, Dylan Elise on the drums, Ric Fierabracci on bass guitar and Dave Gellis on the guitar.
Blood, Sweat and Tears has gone through several personnel and style changes since it was formed in the late 1960s. It is best known for its fusion of rock, pop, blues and jazz music. The style has come to be known as jazz rock.
“They are multi-Grammy Award-winning artists that have been performing for decades,” Jebaily said. “They have a number of hit songs from that time period. They are still active on tours. As a matter of a fact, they will be in Norway before they come back.”
The festival is excited to host the band, Jebaily said. He added that the regrowth and development of Downtown Florence didn’t coincide with the Pecan Festival by accident. He said the festival gave the city the opportunity to show itself off to potential businesses and to prove the viability of its market.
