No. 11 Louisiana Tech Beats Fresno State
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) _ Amber Obaze scored 22 points, and Cheryl Ford had 18 rebounds and 11 points to lead No. 11 Louisiana Tech to its 10th straight victory, 63-53 over Fresno State on Saturday.
Erica Smith scored 13 points, and Trina Frierson had 11 points and seven rebounds to help Louisiana Tech (12-2, 5-0 WAC) extend its winning streak on the same day Connecticut broke the Lady Techsters’ NCAA record of 54 straight victories, set from 1980-82.
Louisiana Tech is unbeaten since a Dec. 4 home loss to Tennessee.
Omelogo Udeze had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs (9-7, 3-3). She hit two free throws with 12:09 left to give Fresno State a one-point lead, but the Lady Techsters countered with a 12-1 run.
Fresno State coach Stacy Johnson-Klein, who has made the once-moribund Bulldogs competitive in her first season, spent the past two seasons as an assistant to former coach Leon Barmore at Louisiana Tech.
