From the Santa Fe New Mexican:
Sept. 28, 1993: Gov. Bruce King and legislative leaders, who have been feuding in recent weeks over taxes and other issues, parlayed in King’s office Monday afternoon and emerged talking about the possibility of a peaceful compromise.
Both sides said there was a chance they could reach agreement over the main point of dispute — a recent 6-cent increase in the state gasoline tax.
King has said he wants to repeal it but the Legislature’s Democrat leaders would like to keep it on the books. At the meeting, though,King seemed to be backing off from going for repeal which into effect in July.
