Sprint for Monroe takes place in June
MONROE — The 27th Annual Sprint for Monroe 5k Road Race and Race 4 Chase Kids’ Fun Run will take place Sunday, June 2.
Join fellow community members as they walk or run to raise money to support local projects, Monroe charities, and youth awareness programs. Top finishers completing the USATF sanctioned course will receive medals and/or cash prizes. All registrants will be included in a random drawing of merchant gifts including 90 minute massages from Massage Therapy Studios, a guitar from Creative Music Center, as well as gift cards from local merchants. Race gift packets and technical T-shirts will be guaranteed to the first 700 registrants.
Additional race day activities include food and drink, such as coffee, donuts, pastries, and fresh fruit. DJ Jason Maur will be on hand to provide pre and post race entertainment. Monroe Physical Therapy will offer massages. Bliss Yoga will be providing a pre race stretching sequence. Two water stops will be provided on the course courtesy of Swiss Army and Newtown Savings Bank. Stepney Fire Department will again offer a birds eye view to photographers capturing the race.
The Sprint for Monroe takes place at Wolfe Park, 285 Cutlers Farm Road in Monroe. Registration tables open at 7:30 a.m. The Fun Run starts promptly at 8:15 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk starts at 9 a.m.
Registration for the 5K Run/Walk and the Race4Chase Kids’ Fun Run is available online and via paper form (available at local businesses, Town Hall and the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library). Registration for the 5K costs $25 for ages 18 and above and 20 for 17 and under. Registration for the Kids’ Fun Run is $5.
Last year’s race raised over $25,000, which was donated to programs such as Project Warmth, the Monroe Food Pantry, Monroe Volunteer EMS, Monroe Volunteer Fire Department, the Masuk Color Guard and Track Teams, as well 5s other initiatives. Proceeds from the Kids’ Fun Run benefitted the Chase Kowalski Memorial Foundation; last year’s race raised over $7,000 for the Foundation.
