The Ludington Area Schools Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Ludington Area Schools Administration Office to discuss a resolution to authorize the issuance of bonds and to delegate the sale of bonds.
On Tuesday, May 7, voters in the Ludington Area School District approved bonding the district for the sum of not to exceed $100,935,000.
Those funds are for the purpose of erecting, furnishing and equipping a new elementary school building; erecting, furnishing and equipping additions to the middle/high school building; remodeling, equipping and re-equipping, and furnishing and refurnishing school buildings; acquiring, installing and equipping or re-equipping school buildings for instructional technology; erecting a new team room and concession building for ball fields; purchasing school buses; and preparing, developing, improving and equipping playgrounds, athletic fields and facilities, and sites.
The first series of bonds totaling $41,375,000 will be issued for paying a part of the cost of the project, with the board’s authorization of the resolution.
Ludington Schools Superintendent Jason Kennedy said the bonds shall be designated 2019 School Building and Site Bonds. Kennedy is recommending to the board to approve the resolution, authorizing the issuance and delegating the sale of bonds.
