Chuck and Bettie Bannister

All because two people fell in love: Chuck and Bettie Bannister were married on Nov. 23, 1968.

Chuck served as a Marine in the Vietnam War. Immediately upon his return, he went looking for the beautiful girl from Yuma, Arizona, who used to write letters to him. Within a few minutes of their re-acquaintance, he asked her to marry him, and she agreed.

Chuck and Bettie were married 50 years ago in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple.

The newlyweds followed Chuck’s military buddies to Pocatello and have greatly contributed to this valley for the last five decades. They have served together and individually as community coaches, BSA leaders, YSA sports and activity directors, camp directors, teachers, and many other volunteer activities. They are known in their community and in their family for their lifelong service.

Their 16 children and children-in-law, Chad and Teresa (Rupp) Bannister, Cassie and Clayton Clevenger, Jamie and Craig Jacaway, Kelley and Brad Spencer, Dave and Jamie (Santillanes) Bannister, Amy and Tyler Moore, Michele and Brody Holyoak, 32 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren are celebrating the Golden Anniversary of this amazing couple.
