Arrest made in shooting death of Greenville star athlete

May 22, 2019

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A 29-year-old Greenville man has been charged in the 2018 shooting death of a former Greenville High star athlete.

The Greenville News reports that Kendrick Omar Cobb is accused of shooting and killing 31-year-old Lamarckus Boswell.

Cobb is charged with murder and two other weapons charges, according to warrants. Cobb is also charged with two counts of attempted murder stemming from an earlier arrest attempt, when police say he rammed a deputy’s patrol car.

Boswell was killed during a March 25, 2018 altercation. Three people fired shots during the melee, but Cobb’s gun is believed to be the only one linked to Boswell’s death, according to police. Officials are looking for information about the other two.

Boswell was a standout football and basketball player at Greenville High School in the mid-2000s.
