Myra B. Draves

Myra B. Draves, 97, of Watertown, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown.

Myra Barbara Strese was born on Aug. 14, 1920, in Jefferson, the daughter of Royal and Charlotte (nee Senger) Strese. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jefferson. She graduated from Jefferson High School. On Feb. 15, 1944, she married Clarence A. Draves at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jefferson. Clarence preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1996. Myra and her husband farmed in Jefferson County until 1957 when they moved to Watertown. They both worked at Hartwig’s in Johnson Creek. Myra was a federal poultry inspector there. She belonged to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown and was an active member of the Ladies Aid Society. She also was a member of the Watertown Senior Citizens. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, reading and playing cards and bingo.

Myra is survived by her son, Robert (Pamela) Draves of Menomonie; daughter-in-law, Mylah Draves of Madison; grandchildren, Bryan, John, Mark and Michael Draves, Dana (Mike) Gibson and Steven Draves; great-granddaughters, Gabrielle, Elizabeth and Samantha Gibson; and many other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandra Hardwick; sons, David and Curtis Draves; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Draves; grandson, Jason Draves; sister, Gladys Seiwert; brothers, Curtis, Merlin and Ivan Strese; and other family members.

The family would like to thank everyone at Marquardt Health Center for the care and friendship they gave Mom these last seven years. We would also like to thank Steve and Linda Buske for sharing their home with us when we came to visit Mom through the years.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Todd Iverson officiating. Burial will take place at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Family and friends may gather at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Ladies Aid or Wisconsin Council of the Blind.
