Apartment fire forces many out

Several residents have been forced from their homes following an apartment fire late Friday.

Fort Wayne firefighters arrived at the complex, 5641 Woodshire Blvd., about 11:25 p.m. and found smoke visible from one of the units, according to a news release.

The sole occupant managed to get out safely.

Crews had the blaze under control in 12 minutes and there were no injuries. Several nearby units at the apartment complex were affected and displaced residents, officials said.

The fire remains under investigation.

Churubusco man critical after crash

A 23-year-old Churubusco man was in critical condition Saturday after a crash in Rome City.

Around 6 p.m., the Noble County Sheriff’s Department was sent to 8147 N. State Road 9 on reports of a crash. Michael Golden was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox south on State Road 9 before turning left into the path of a 2011 Ford F-350 driven by Evan Park, 42, of Wolcottville, according to a news release.

Golden suffered critical injuries and was flown to Parkview Regional Hospital. Park was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
