Suspect identified in Edgefield Highway murder investigation
Police have identified a suspect in the murder investigation of an Aiken man who was thrown from a car on Edgefield Highway on Saturday night.
Investigators are searching for Ricky Antwon Creech, 19, of North Augusta. Warrants have been obtained for Creech for murder and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office warns that Creech should be considered armed and dangerous.
On Saturday around 11 p.m., witnesses called police claiming the victim, later identified as Jonathan Cochran, had been pushed out of a moving vehicle onto the roadway. Cochran was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
The cause of death has not been confirmed at this time, though Cochran was found to have an apparent gunshot wound in his upper torso. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on Creech’s whereabouts to contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at 803-648-6811. Tips leading to an arrest may be rewarded with $1,000.
