WHAT: 2018 Fly In Festival with two days of music, camping and jamming hosted by The Bing Brothers with Jake Krack.

WHERE: Robert Newlon Airpark, 6090 Kyle Lane, Huntington

WHEN: Friday and Saturday, Aug. 24-25. Gates open on Thursday, Aug. 23, for a welcome potluck dinner, camping and jamming

GET TICKETS: Tickets are $40 for the weekend, or $25 per day, and camping is $20 for the entire weekend. Get tickets online at https://fly-in-festival.ticketleap.com/2018/or get tickets at the gate. Kids 12 and under get in free with a paying adult.

THE CONTEST: New this year is the Robin Kessinger State Flatpick guitar contest and workshops. The contest will run 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

THE CAMPING: Cost is $20 to camp for the weekend for primitive and a limited number of electric hookups for $35.

FLYING IN: Enjoy skydiving demos throughout the weekend including Jake Krack fiddling the national anthem on Friday and Saturday while the American flag is flown down to the stage.

SATURDAY FLOAT TRIP: There will be a kayak/canoe float trip on the Ohio River down to the festival. Meet at the Fly-In at 9 a.m. Saturday. You must have equipment with you. The Fly In Festival will not be supplying any equipment, but will assist in transportation to the launch locations, or the return of your vehicle(s) to the campground. Paddlers will be launching from Riverview Drive (just past Hillbilly Hotdogs) — about 3.5 miles from the fest. A longer trip will launch from the Greenbottom Public Boat Ramp (13 miles from Fly In Festival). Go online at https://www.facebook.com/events/222560028447623/ for more info on the float.
