Police identify victim of Yarmouth car crash
YARMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — The victim of a fiery single-car crash in Yarmouth has been identified as a local man who died despite the heroic efforts of two good Samaritans.
Police say 54-year-old William Kimball died after his car struck a tree on Route 6A late Wednesday night and burst into flames.
A man who lives nearby and another motorist who stopped dragged Kimball from his vehicle as the flames grew and spread and before emergency personnel arrived.
Kimball was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the crash remains under investigation.
Acting Deputy Fire Chief Jon Sawyer tells the Cape Cod Times that what the civilian rescuers did was “a pretty brave thing.”
