SWAT standoff in South Euclid related to the death of Beachwood doctor, police say

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — South Euclid police are involved in SWAT standoff with someone barricaded inside a home Friday night.

Police say the standoff is connected to a Thursday night homicide that resulted in a Beachwood doctor’s death, police said.

The South Euclid SWAT team went with Beachwood police to executed a search warrant at a home on Elmwood Road about 10 p.m., South Euclid police said.

Multiple reports said the officers were exchanged fire with someone inside the home. No one was injured in the shooting, WKYC reported. 

It’s unclear how many people were inside of the home, the television station reported. 

Richard Warn, 59, was found dead in his home in the 2400 block of Brentwood Avenue just after 6 p.m. Thursday, Beachwood police said. 

No arrest have been made. Beachwood police said foul play is suspected, and that it there were not outward signs that someone broke into the home.
