Vonnegut To Be Honored at Reunion
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Novelist Kurt Vonnegut Jr.’s 60th high school reunion will include a ceremony dedicating a bronze bust in honor of the ``Slaughterhouse Five″ author.
Vonnegut, 77, was a member of Shortridge High School’s class of 1940. His bust, created by California artist Mary Weide and commissioned by Vonnegut’s classmates, will be dedicated Saturday evening at the Biergarten of the Athenaeum.
The Athenaeum was designed by the author’s grandfather, architect Bernard Vonnegut. In 1997, Vonnegut was the keynote speaker for a society of the Athenaeum’s most active supporters.
Vonnegut’s other works include ``Breakfast of Champions″ and ``Cat’s Cradle.″
