Williams was a limited participant in practice Friday and was surprisingly upgraded from out to questionable, days after coach Jay Gruden told reporters he’d miss his third straight game while recovering from thumb surgery. Gruden’s first instinct turned out to be true.

Dunbar (shin) will miss his fourth game over the last five weeks.

Kicker Dustin Hopkins (groin) and cornerback Montae Nicholson (illness) were also listed as questionable Friday, but will be active for Washington.

Wide receiver Jamison Crowder and running backs Chris Thompson and Samaje Perine were ruled out Friday by coach Jay Gruden. Crowder has not played since Week 5 at New Orleans, and Thompson last appeared in Week 8 at the New York Giants.

The Redskins announced that rookie receiver Trey Quinn, who was activated this week from an early-season injured reserve stint, will start in Crowder’s place.

For Houston, wide receiver and returner Keke Coutee (hamstring) will play after entering Sunday as questionable. Aaron Colvin is among the Texans’ inactives:
