European Union Building Evacuated

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) _ The main building of the European Union’s head office was evacuated Monday after a suspicious package was found.

Staff at the Breydel building, which includes the office of European Commission President Romano Prodi, were evacuated into a park across the street about 11 a.m. local time, said spokesman Michael Mann.

Spokeswoman Beate Gminder said a suspicious package had been found, but she had no other details. A police spokesman had no information.
