Man allegedly makes bomb threats after being turned away from polls
The Manistee County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a man who allegedly made bomb threats to the polling location in Dickson Township after he was turned away from the polls, according to Manistee County Sheriff John O’Hagan.
O’Hagan said the man is a former resident of Isabella County and did not register to vote when he moved to Manistee County.
The man was told that he would need to contact Isabella County to sort the issue out, but “wasn’t happy with their answer,” said O’Hagan.
The man then threatened to either burn down or bomb Dickson Town Hall over the phone to the Isabella County clerk, according to O’Hagan.
Isabella County’s clerk called Manistee County’s clerk, who alerted deputies about the threats.
Security was increased at Dickson Township Hall, but the man never showed, said O’Hagan.
Deputies went to the home of the man, but he was not located and still has not been located as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to O’Hagan.
“We have patrols in the vicinity of his residence actively pursuing to speak with him. We don’t know much about the subject — that’s what we are investigating,” said O’Hagan.
