Nov. 25Toys for TotsThe Katy Fire Department is supporting the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation again this year. It is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages through Dec. 21 at Fire Station No. 1, 1417 Ave. D in Katy and at Fire Station No. 3, 2944 FM 1463 near Firethorne.Festival of TreesCane Island Amenity Village is the site of the Festival of Trees, which will conclude on Sunday, Nov. 25. Hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday. Adults are $15 and children $7. The event will include a parade of trees, live entertainment, children’s activities, a holiday market, food trucks, a Christmas village, photos with Santa and a classic car show. Crafting enthusiasts can share tips, get ideas and inspiration, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow crafters at this new drop-in event. Steve Boado and Mike Vrabel formed the musical act more than 14 years ago with an admiration for the 1981 movie and musical act from “Saturday Night Live.” The tribute combines classic soul and blues along with hits from the album “Briefcase Full of Blues” and the movie.Dec. 1Old-Fashioned ChristmasKaty Market Days will host an Old-Fashioned Christmas from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 1 between Second and Third streets and Avenue B and C. The event will include 50,000 pounds of snow at Second Street and Avenue C, 185 arts and craft vendors, food trucks, a petting zoo, No Label beer garden and Santa Claus. Admission is free.Holiday open houseFort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library, 2620 Commercial Center Blvd. in Katy, will host a free Holiday Open House for families on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities will begin with a craft program, “DIY Recycled-Book Crafts for the Holiday,” from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served from 11:30 a.m. to noon. A Family Holiday Movie will be shown beginning at 12:30 p.m. In this 1994 family comedy, Tim Allen plays a divorced advertising executive who inadvertently becomes the real St. Nick when he puts on the Santa suit of the man who fell off his roof.
