Vanderbilt Mascot Injured
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ One of Vanderbilt’s mascots fell 30 feet while practicing a rappelling entrance for a pre-game show before Vanderbilt’s game with Tennessee on Wednesday night.
Ian Romaine, a junior at David Lipscomb University, was injured about two hours before tipoff as he rappelled down a rope from the gym’s rafters. Romaine recently joined the Vanderbilt cheer squad as one of its three Mr. Commodore mascots.
Romaine was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and he was listed in fair condition, hospital spokesman Wayne Wood said.
