September 20, 2018

Do you wonder if your child’s safety seat is properly installed in your car? The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and local police will let you know. PennDOT is offering checks of child safety seats in September and October. Events around the region include: • Sept. 19: Archbald Ambulance, 195 Delaware St., Archbald, 4 to 7 p.m. • Sept. 21: McDade Park, 1 Bald Mountain Road, Scranton, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. • Sept. 22, Coccia Ford, 1600 Highway 315, Wilkes-Barre, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. • Sept. 28, State Farm Insurance, 1118 Highway 315, Suite 2, Wilkes-Barre, 2 to 5 p.m. • Oct. 19, McCarthy Tire Service, 340 Kidder St., Wilkes-Barre, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Car seats, booster seats, and seat belts when used properly save lives and offer the best protection for families and children in crashes. “Every 33 seconds in 2016, a child under 13 was involved in a passenger vehicle crash,” said Cathy Connors, the Northeast coordinator for Traffic Injury Prevention Project (TIPP). “Using car seats that are age and size appropriate is the best way to keep children safe.”
