December 7, 2018

An Aiken man was charged early Wednesday morning in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store on Trolley Line Road on Tuesday night.

Jarred Minus, 19, of the 100 block of Arcturus Drive, is charged with armed robbery and possession of weapon during a violent crime, according to jail records.

Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 11 p.m. Tuesday to Racers Food Store at 3410 Trolley Line Road in reference to a reported robbery, according to the report.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the cashier who claimed he was doing inventory behind the counter while also speaking with a man, who the employee said was a regular customer, the report states.

The victim said the suspect then ran into the store with a gun and forced him and the other man to the ground. The suspect, who was wearing a mask to disguise himself, took an unknown amount of cash from the register and fled the scene on foot, according to the report.

The victim told investigators he searched the area after the suspect left and realized he was also missing a business check that had been sitting next to another register, police reported.

Deputies viewed the store’s security footage and the video showed the second man in the store with the victim steal the business check while the victim was not looking, police reported.

While police searched the area, Minus was located walking down the road and he matched the description of the suspect.

Minus was searched and clothing matching what the suspect was wearing during the robbery was located in his backpack, police reported.

Minus was arrested and taken to the Aiken County detention center, where he was still being held Thursday afternoon.

The second suspect from the incident has not yet been identified, but the victim told investigators he knows him as “Malik.”
