Coast Guard: Oregon boogie boarder missing, father dead
ROCKAWAY BEACH, Ore. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says a 17-year-old boogie boarder is missing off the Oregon coast west of Portland, and a another man — believed to be his father — was found dead after going into the water to try to save him.
The agency said Wednesday afternoon it had helicopter crews looking for the teen. His stepmother called 911 from Rockaway Beach after she lost sight of him as well as his 50-year-old father. Authorities said the 50-year-old was found but did not survive.
