Mexico marines seize liquid cocaine from Argentina
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s Navy says that federal authorities in the state of Yucatan have seized two power transformers that were carrying liquid cocaine.
The Navy says in a statement that the containers were filled with a mixture of the kind of insulating oil typically used in transformers and liquid cocaine that totaled 623 gallons (2,360 liters). The containers arrived in Mexico from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Thursday statement said that marines and federal prosecutors seized the transformers Monday in the port of Progreso. It gave no other details.
It added that the liquid has been turned over to federal authorities who have opened an investigation.
