Kostner Leads Skiing World Cup
LAKE LOUISE, Alberta (AP) _ Italy’s Isolde Kostner finished first in two training runs Tuesday in preparation for Thursday’s first women’s World Cup downhill of the season.
Kostner completed the 2,933-yard Whitehorn Mountain course in 1 minute, 37.54 seconds in the first run, and 1:36.98 in the second.
Canada’s Melanie Turgeon was second in the first run at 1:38.22, and France’s Regine Cavagnoud and Austria’s Cavagnoud and Renate Goetschl followed Kostner in the second run at 1:37.62.
Another downhill is set for Friday, and a super-G is scheduled Saturday.
