CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Former Rainelle Mayor Andrea “Andy” Pendleton has been named as a Distinguished West Virginian.

Gov. Jim Justice presented the award Tuesday during a lunch at the governor’s mansion.

Pendleton was elected as the city’s first female mayor in 2011 and served four two-year terms before retiring.

The governor’s office said she helped the town “get back on its feet” after a devastating flood in 2016.
