K-Park hosts Mom Prom to benefit Project Graduation
Kingwood Park High School is hosting two proms this year — one for their seniors and one for their moms in late March.
As part of Project Graduation, KPark is hosting a Mom Prom that is open to all women 21 years old and over.
It will be a special event for people who might want to attend the prom they never had or just have a girls night out, Project Graduation fundraising chair Alisa Cancino said.
Cancino got the idea for a Mom Prom from the news.
“I was on the Project Graduation committee in 2017, and at the time they had a little thing on the news about this national organization called Mom Prom. And there was going to be one held in Houston. So we decided in 2017 to have a Mom Prom as part of Project Graduation,” Cancino said.
The Mom Prom will take place on March 22 from 6:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. at Italiano’s, which is located on 217 FM 1960 Bypass, Humble.
Advanced tickets are sold for $30 per person while they are $40 at the door. Tickets include food and a glass of wine.
Women are encouraged to dig up their old prom dress, a bridesmaid dress or whatever they please, to wear to the prom.
There will be a tackiest dress contest, an Aqua Net best hair contest and a Crown-the-Queen game.
Proceeds will benefit the Mom Prom Charity and K-Park’s Project Graduation.
“(Ladies) deserve a night out. We need that time to have fun and bond with each other and just have a great time,” Cancino said.
