October 5, 2018

FULTON, Calif. (AP) — Authorities have blown up a suspicious device that was found near a Pacific Gas & Electric Co. substation in Northern California but it’s unclear whether it contained explosives.

A PG&E worker found the device Thursday afternoon outside of the Fulton substation in Sonoma County.

The Sheriff’s Department says the device appeared to be two pieces of metal about 18 to 24 inches long, connected by a wire.

Freeway offramps in the area were shut down.

A bomb squad blew up the device as a precaution at about 6 p.m. The Sheriff’s Department says there’s no longer any danger.
