BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) _ Quincy Alexander scored 25 points, leading a hot-shooting Lamar to a 117-42 victory Wednesday night over Mary Hardin-Baylor.
The Cardinals (4-3) outscored Mary Hardin-Baylor (2-6) by 71-15 in the second half, making 72 percent of their field goals on 28-of-39 shooting while Mary Hardin-Baylor was making only 4 of 35.
The 75-point margin was Lamar’s largest margin of victory ever. The previous largest victory margin was 69 points in a 126-57 victory over Sam Houston State in 1991.
Alexander made 9 of 12 from the field and 7 of 7 from the free throw line. Ron Coleman and Eric Lawson added 17 points each.
Theodis Lyons led Mary Hardin-Baylor with 15 points, including 9 of his team’s 15 points in the second half.
Marlone Jackson of Lamar and Jason Byrd of Mary Hardin-Baylor were ejected in the second half for fighting. According to NCAA rules, they must sit out their next game.
