BOSTON (AP) _ The Boston Celtics signed Argentina national team forward Ruben Wolkowyski on Monday.
The 6-foot-10 Wolkowyski was part of the Argentina team that won the silver medal at the World Championships this year, handing the U.S. its first loss since the Americans began sending NBA players to international tournaments in 1992.
Wolkowyski played last season with the Dallas Mavericks before moving to CSKA Moscow in the Russian Superleague, where he averaged 12.7 points and 7.8 rebounds.
Wolkowyski played 34 games with the Seattle Supersonics during the 2000-2001 season, averaging 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds.
Before arriving in Seattle, he played in seven National League of Argentina all-star games and won honors as all-star, regular season and playoff MVP in that league.
