Woman dies after being struck by SUV in Billerica

November 30, 2014

BILLERICA, Mass. (AP) — Police in northeastern Massachusetts say they don’t believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in a fatal pedestrian accident in Billerica.

Authorities say a sport utility vehicle struck a woman on Salem Road shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday. Paramedics say she was unconscious and breathing when they arrived, but she later died at a hospital.

The names of the pedestrian and the SUV driver haven’t been released yet.

Police say the driver immediately pulled over and cooperated with investigators, and there was no indication that alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident.

The state police accident reconstruction team and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office are assisting in the investigation.
