Minnesota 80, Wisconsin 75

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Kaiuan Burns scored eight of Minnesota’s final 12 points Friday night as the Gophers beat Wisconsin 80-75 in the Big Ten tournament.

Minnesota (4-23) was led by Mindy Hansen with 19 points and Angie Iverson with 16 points. Burns added 13 points and Sarah Klun finished with 10.

Kelly Paulus topped Wisconsin (16-11) with a game-high 20 points. Ann Klapperich finished with 18 points and Keisha Anderson scored 14.

The Gophers outscored the Badgers 23-10 from the free throw line. Minnesota went 6 of 8 from the stripe in the final 1:16.

Burns rallied the Gophers in the last 2:49 when she scored a layup to tie it at 70. Burns also hit a layup off of a steal with 1:27 left to make it 74-70. Burns made two free throws at the 1:16 mark to make it 76-70 and hit two free throws in the final 30 seconds.

Anderson hit a 3-pointer with 34.8 seconds remaining to make it 78-73 and scored on an 8-foot jumper with 23.9 seconds remaining to closed the deficit to 78-75.

The Gophers trailed 39-35 at halftime.

Minnesota finished 23 of 32 from the line for 72 percent, while Wisconsin converted 10 of 15 for 67 percent.

The Badgers made two more field goals, including four more 3-pointers. Wisconsin led 56-50 with 12:32 remaining in the second half on Paulus’ 16-foot jump shot. Klun then pulled Minnesota to a 56-56 tie at the 11:18 mark on her 11-foot jumper.

Klun sparked the 6-0 run with tipin with 12:18 remaining followed by Hansen’s 17-foot jumper with 11:46 left.
