Community meeting set for New Milford POCD
Residents will be able to share input on New Milford’s Plan of Conservation and Development at a community conversation at 7 p.m. on Feb. 21 in Town Hall.
The snow date will be 7 p.m. on Feb. 28 at the New Milford Senior Center, 40 Main Street.
The input will be used for the 2020 POCD, which is being drafted by a Planning Commission subcomittee. The 12 members are appointed by the Planning Commission.
A series of outreach workshops will be held over the next several months to determine what New Milford residents consider to be the town’s long-term goals.
This meeting will focus on transportation, infrastructure, municipal services and facilities.
March’s meeting will discuss natural resources, open space and quality of life topics, such as arts, historical resources and recreation. April’s meeting will dive into economic development and housing.
“The 2020 POCD will be a roadmap showing how we would like our Town to develop over the next decade - and an outline of what is important to us; from our recreational, historical and cultural assets - to our needs for economic development, jobs, town infrastructure and housing options for everyone - as well as our desires regarding open space, farmland and improvement in the water quality of Candlewood Lake and our rivers both large and small,” according to the press release.
