Gamer of the Week: Lexi Antol of Hurricane High School
Teays Physical Therapy Center Inc. and the Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s female Gamer of the Week to Junior Lexi Antol of Hurricane High School.
Lexi is a junior on the girls swim team at Hurricane High School. The girls have had a good start to the season and Lexi is very happy with how the season is going. Antol competes in multiple events including, the 100-yard backstroke, 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle. At the Wild Winter Blast meet, Lexi placed first overall in backstroke, first overall in the 200-yard relay and second overall in the 500 free.
When asked about her personal goals for the season, Lexi said, “I want to beat my PR in the 100-yard backstroke, which is at 1:07 currently, and get it below 1:06. I also want to make top six at the state meet in the 100-yard backstroke. I would like to see our relay teams make it to the states finishing in the top six as well.” Lexi states, “My club and high school coaches are all huge supporters and motivators for me; always pushing me to do better.”
She also looks up to her older sister, Brooke, who has been swimming with her for years.
The coach for HHS girls swim team is Christina Painter. This is her first year coaching at HHS and has had a great start to the season thus far. “Lexi is a very hard worker, practicing multiple times a day several times a week, showing her pure dedication and passion for swimming,” she said.
Lexi currently carries a 4.5 GPA, and participates in a variety of things in school, including Key Club, International Club, and Mu Alpha Theta. Lexi stays busy by swimming year round, competing with the Teays Valley YMCA Wild Waves. Lexi plans to attend the University of Kentucky where she wants to major in physical therapy.
Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s Female Gamer of the Week sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. & The Putnam Herald.
