American Family Housing Announces New Board Chairman, Mark Hoover

March 21, 2019

MIDWAY CITY, Calif., March 21, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- American Family Housing (AFH) – a nonprofit organization that provides housing and related services to low-income and homeless families and adults – is pleased to announce the recent selection of Mark Hoover as the chair of its all-volunteer Board of Directors.

With intimate knowledge of housing regulations and procedures, Hoover is uniquely qualified to guide AFH as it takes on housing initiatives. Possessing over 40 years of experience as vice president of sales and marketing for First American Corporation’s home building division in Southern California, Hoover has been a member of the American Family Housing board of directors since 2015.

“It is so important to provide permanent supportive housing so we can end homelessness and, in the meantime, provide for shorter-term options such as emergency shelters,” Hoover said.

Hoover plans to work with the Board to transition American Family Housing into a larger, regional contributor to ending homelessness in Southern California. “The greater our reach, the greater our positive effect.”

The all-volunteer Board of Directors oversees the Chief Executive Officer, Milo Peinemann, and is tasked with steering AFH towards a sustainable future by making sure AFH has resources to fulfill its non-profit mission. From identifying the best collaborative partners to refining internal protocols, Hoover intends to ensure that AFH continues to fine-tune itself so that the organization remains strong and stable as it grows.

Hoover has a personal passion for donating his time, energy and real estate knowledge to provide affordable housing to those who cannot meet market rates.

No stranger to nonprofit organizations that strive to alleviate homelessness, Hoover also sits on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity of Orange County and Jamboree Housing Corporation. Each organization is committed to produce housing, and hope, in support of their non-profit missions.

“Mark is extraordinarily qualified for this role, and we both see a similar future where no one has to be homeless and where, instead of looking away from our struggling neighbors, we as a society look toward them with practical, proven solutions and with kindness,” Peinemann said. “So I was pretty stoked when Mark said yes.”

Hoover is joined on the Board’s Executive Committee by Glenn Williams as Vice Chair, Lauren Ellermeyer as Treasurer, and Father Bill Barman as Secretary. Peinemann also expressed his gratitude to outgoing Board Chair Tom Burnham, who will continue to work with Hoover and Peinemann on board recruitment and in support of a diverse board that is representative of the communities that AFH serves.
