Husband arrested in 2013 death of Georgia woman
BROXTON, Ga. (AP) — Police in Georgia have arrested the husband of a woman who was found dead in her burned home nearly six years ago.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a news release that Timothy Laure Sheffield has been charged with murder, arson, aggravated assault and possession of a gun during a crime.
The GBI says 49-year-old Edith Sheffield was shot in the head Jan. 18, 2013, and left in her home in Broxton in Coffee County. The home was then burned.
Timothy Sheffield had been interviewed by investigators previously and denied any involvement.
GBI Special Agent in Charge Mark Pro said then Sheffield had not been ruled out as a suspect. Pro would not say why Sheffield was arrested now.
It was not known if he has a lawyer.
