Twins Celebrate 100th Birthday
NORWELL, Mass. (AP) _ Lucy Bonney and Anne Henderson’s birthday Saturday won’t be just another milestone - the identical twins will turn 100.
That’s a rare accomplishment: life insurance executives say the odds of twins both living to be 100 are one in 50 million.
Two parties are planned, one at the Norwell Knoll Nursing Home where Henderson lives and the other at the Stetson Manor Nursing Home, where Bonney lives. The sisters plan to attend both parties, in matching flower dresses.
They moved into separate nursing homes two years ago because Henderson is more frail and requires more care than her sister.
The sisters say they have always lived together and shared similar interests, such as gardening, cooking and reading.
″We always did everything together,″ Bonney said.
The twins were born Oct. 12, 1891, in a house they said that had been in their family for seven generations in nearby Hanover.
