Needles Mustangs dominate The Meadows Mustangs

September 22, 2018

NEEDLES — It was a 52-12 blowout of The Meadows Mustangs by the Needles High School Mustangs varsity football team on Sept. 20 on Branigan Field.

The NIAA 2A League game win bring the Needles Mustangs overall record to 4-1 and gives them a league record of 2-0.

The league game was played as an eight-man game since the Meadows Mustangs only had 12 players on their side of the field. The tactics for the eight-man game played on a regulation field did change but it was kept simple by head coach Matt Fromelt.

“It was different playing eight-man on a regulation field since usually, they shrink it down,” said Fromelt. “We did miss some tackles but we told the guys to go back to the basics and adjust. We did and we were able to come out on top.”

The Needles Mustangs are on the road to face their league rival The Lincoln County Lynx on Sept. 28 starting at 7 p.m.
