Tolsia football preps for home opener
GLENHAYES — Coach Eric Crum and his Tolsia Rebels will get a taste of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Friday night in Glenhayes hosting the Fairland Dragons.
The Rebels are coming off a tough 2-8 record in 2017 after Crum took over for long-time head coach Mike Smith.
Devon Crum and Brent Setser return as the anchors for Tolsia’s offense. Setser, a 6-foot-4 285 pound offensive lineman, will give Tolsia some push up front with their ground and pound offense.
Crum’s elusive footwork will make for an interesting task for Fairland’s defense in their first trip to Wilt Salmons stadium.
Joel Lambiotte enters his fourth season under center for the Dragons, bringing experience since his freshman season to the table.
Lambiotte and running back Rielly Sowards have already combined for a pair of wins in the preseason, the last coming against Minford Saturday.
Tolsia hasn’t seen a deep run in the playoffs since the 2015 season under coach Smith when the Presley brothers, Luke and Logan, helped lead the Rebels to Wheeling Island against rival Bridgeport in Class AA.
Fairland ended last season on a high note, crushing rival Chesapeake 46-28 and finishing the season with a 6-4-1 record.
Kickoff is set for Friday night in Glenhayes at 7:30 p.m.
