Cleveland man shot four times during fight over money in city’s Central neighborhood

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cleveland man was shot four times during a fight over money late Tuesday in the city’s Central neighborhood, police said.

The 41-year-old man was shot twice in the left leg and once in the right leg just after 10 p.m. outside a home on East 33rd Street near Central Avenue. A fourth gunshot grazed the man’s head, according to a police report.

Cleveland EMS took him to MetroHealth for treatment. A Cleveland police spokesman said late Tuesday that he was in serious condition.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, police said.

The man declined to provide any information to police officers, but witnesses said they heard him and another man fighting over money just before the shooting, police reports say.

A neighbor said he was outside drinking on his porch when he saw a man walking toward his home. The neighbor did not recognize the man, so he went inside.

Two other neighbors said they heard the two men arguing. One neighbor reported hearing at least eight gunshots, police reports say.

None of the neighbors saw the shooting, they told police officers.

The 41-year-old man refused to give a statement to investigators at the hospital, police reports say.

Officers recovered three bullet casings at the scene.
