Ohio road rage incident leads to shooting in parking lot

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — A man and woman are facing charges after they were accused of shooting and wounding a man during a road rage incident in a restaurant parking lot, according to reports.

Chase Harris, 25, and Jessica Payne, 25, were arrested and jailed after the incident Monday night, police tell WLWT Channel 5. Harris is charged with felonious assault and endangering children, while Payne is charged with complicity to felonious assault and endangering children.

The confrontation started on area streets and ended in the parking lot of a Rapid Fired Pizza at about 9:30 p.m. Monday, according to Fox 19.

Harris is accused of following Charles Howard, 43, into the parking lot and the men got out of their cars and began arguing and fighting.

Police tell Fox 19 that Payne got out of the vehicle and gave a handgun to Harris, who used it to shoot Howard in the right knee.

The couple’s two children, ages 1 and 3, were in the vehicle when the shooting occurred, WHIO Channel 7 reports. They were not harmed.

Howard drove himself to the hospital after being wounded. Harris and Payne were arrested at the scene.

The incident was recorded by the manager of the restaurant.
