WEST ORANGE, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a crane overturned as its operator was attempting to remove a large tree at a home in New Jersey, trapping the operator for about 30 minutes.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. Friday in West Orange.

The operator was working in the yard when the crane flipped on its side, taking down several branches and some power lines. It also hit part of a nearby house, damaging the roof of that residence.

The operator suffered a broken leg and was being treated at a hospital. His name has not been released, and further details on his condition were not available Saturday.

Investigators say it's not yet known what caused the crane to topple over.
