Holiday celebration slated Saturday at Katherine Landing
LAKE MOHAVE — Families are invited to Katherine Landing to celebrate the holiday season by the water at “Lighting on the Landing.”
The merriment starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the marina, which is near the restaurant, store and lodge.
“We’re definitely in the spirit,” said Joe Leeds, facility manager.
Highlights include the boat parade, boat decorating contest and a visit by Santa Claus, who will be camera ready for family photos. Staff advise that people need to take their own pictures because there won’t be a photographer there.
Also scheduled to be on hand is the Mohave High School choir.
Children can decorate ornaments and there will be food and drink for sale: Popcorn, hot dogs, hamburgers and a variety of drinks — including some adult beverages.
Staff at the marina recommend families bring blankets to be comfortable while watching the holiday film “A Christmas Story” on the lawn.
And, of course, don’t forget to dress warmly.
Judging of boat decorations will begin some time after the boat parade. Best Decorated Houseboat, Best Decorated Small Boat and Best Decorated Dock will each be recognized.
Ten boats are expected to be decked out with holiday decorations.
Leeds added that 90 percent of the decorations were donated by the Laughlin Outlet Center.
