Skydiver rescued after landing in tree near Weeping Water
A skydiver was rescued after landing in a tree east of Weeping Water over the weekend.
Around 4 p.m. Saturday, Cass County sheriff’s deputies as well as rescue workers from the Weeping Water, Manley, Avoca and Plattsmouth volunteer fire departments responded to a report of a skydiver caught in a tree about a half-mile west of the headquarters for Lincoln Sport Parachute Club.
The woman was caught 60 to 65 feet off the ground. Overhead power lines complicated the rescue, so Omaha Public Power District shut off the power, allowing the Plattsmouth ladder truck to help her out of the tree.
The woman was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
