Texas’ P.J. Tucker Signs With Agent

May 18, 2006

AUSTIN (AP) _ Texas forward and Big 12 player of the year P.J. Tucker has signed with an agent and will not return to the Longhorns.

Tucker said last month he would explore his NBA draft position, but remained eligible to return to the Longhorns because he had not signed with an agent.

Tucker signed with agent Leon Rose, Longhorns team spokesman Scott McConnell said Thursday. A call to Rose’s office was not immediately returned.

McConnell said coach Rick Barnes did not have an immediate comment on Tucker’s decision.

The burly 6-foot-5 Tucker led the Longhorns in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, as Texas won a school-record 30 games and reached the Atlanta Regional final of the NCAA tournament before losing to LSU.

Longhorns sophomore forward LaMarcus Aldridge also left the team for the NBA, and point guard Daniel Gibson is exploring the same option. If Gibson leaves, Texas will have to replace its entire starting lineup.
