Westinghouse To Cut 225 Jobs In Headquarters Restructuring

October 24, 1995

PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Westinghouse Electric Corp. will cut 225 jobs in a restructuring of its headquarters.

About 110 of the jobs are at the company’s Pittsburgh headquarters. The other 115 are at its science and technology research center in Churchill, near Pittsburgh, the company said Tuesday.

About 170 headquarters employees will be transferred to other offices. The changes, which follow a study by Arthur Anderson Consulting, will reduce the headquarters staff from 670 to 390 by the end of the year.

``Over the past several years we have made fundamental changes to Westinghouse’s business portfolio and strategy,″ said David Zemelman, senior vice president of human resources. ``Today, we are reorienting our headquarters to be consistent with our changing enterprise.″

Westinghouse has cut thousands of jobs since Chairman Michael Jordan took over in the summer of 1993.
