BARCELONA, Spain (AP) _ Jose Maria Olazabal missed the cut in his first tournament since winning the Masters, but Sergio Garcia of Spain advanced in his first pro tournament despite Friday’s second-round 73 at the Spanish Peugot Open.

Jarmo Sandelin of Sweden and Scotland’s Paul Lawrie each shot a second straight 6-under-par 66 to tie for the lead at 132.

England’s Jamie Spence was one stroke back. He closed with two bogeys and still shot a 68.

Olazabal fired a 71 in Friday’s lightning-disrupted round and finished the two rounds at 143. It took a 142 to qualify for the last two days.

Olazabal had to birdie two of his last three holes to advance, but could only manage pars.

Garcia, the top amateur at the Masters and reigning British amateur champion, went into the third round with a 140.

The 19-year-old shot a 67 in his first pro round Thursday.

Seve Ballesteros, who was thinking about skipping the tournament because of knee problems, shot a 69 to scrape under the cut at 142.

England’s Nick Faldo missed his sixth cut in 10 starts when he struggled to a 76, leaving him 2-over total 146.
